Summary:

SEGA of America is seeking a Temporary Editor to help localize top-class, Japan-originating products for Western markets. Our editors are specialists in the English language and creative professionals who review raw, functional translations of Japanese text and craft them into evocative, faithful English localizations.

For this position, we are looking to find someone who can hit the ground running for the length of a single upcoming project. While it is a team effort, each editor is responsible for a given amount of work and will be expected to deliver high quality output with minimal oversight. Experience working in the localization of Japanese games is preferred.

In the SEGA Localization Department, you will spend your days…

  • Rewriting raw translations into clean, compelling English that’s ready for prime time.
  • Tracking your progress with daily diligence to stay on schedule with longer-term deadlines.
  • Communicating frequently with translators and other editors.
  • Using Microsoft Teams group chat to discuss the story, characters, and game functions.
  • Participating in remote meetings to decide key terms and style guide.
  • Researching referenced events, concepts, people, etc., whether real-world or within a series’ canon.
  • Recognizing inconsistencies in presentation and collaborating with your team to sync up.
  • Finding the emotional core in dialogue, and artfully restructuring or rewriting lines to serve that core.
  • Rewriting system text and in-game mechanical information for maximum clarity and readability.
  • Being mindful of character limits and writing effectively within their limitations.
  • Synchronizing your writing for a character with your team’s vision for them.
  • Getting your dialogue script recording-studio-ready by supplying VO direction and context notes.
  • Posting emotionally hard-hitting lines in the team chat and watching everyone freak out about them. (In a good way.)

Job Summary:

SEGA is seeking an experienced, highly capable Sr Software Engineer to join our talented team to help port and publish our games on Steam. They will be responsible for providing direct support to our external partner developers from Asia, America, and Europe as well as to internal stakeholders to implement our development standards that we refer to as ‘Best practices for PC Development.’ This role is deeply involved in multiple projects, both future and ongoing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong background in developing game with C++ native code
  • Strong knowledge in Windows API and other open source libraries

Localization Producer

Summary

SEGA of America is seeking a Localization Producer to help deliver top-class, Japan-originating product to Western markets. Our producers are internationally-minded professionals who coordinate between our Japan-based development teams, our Irvine-based J2E language teams and Europe- based EU language teams, distributed QA services, and NA/EU Marketing teams to deliver world-renowned SEGA and Atlus product to market on time, on budget, and at target quality.

Job Summary:

 

SEGA is seeking a self-motivated, organized, and effective PD Operations Manager to join our talented team in developing the next generation of award-winning games for console, PC, and emerging platforms. The PD Ops Manager will be responsible for managing our PD Ops division, a group primarily responsible for Release Management, while also providing all-encompassing support to our Production and QA departments with the ultimate goal of improving in-house tech and productivity.

 

Strong leadership skills would be necessary as we’re looking for a manager who would inspire others and promote growth and self-improvement to a small team. This role is great for someone who really wants to dip their toes in all aspects of the business.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • As a primary function, develop and lead the charge on our Release Management strategy and work toward aligning all worldwide divisions toward these processes.
  • Establish new workflows within the Release Management pipeline that helps keep all stakeholders aware of the status of their projects.
  • Responsibilities include publishing portal management and Dev/QA account management for all storefronts.
  • Manage a small team of Submission Specialists and PD Ops Coordinators.
  • Work with Submission Specialists to improve first-party and ratings submission scheduling and planning.
  • As a secondary function, provide technical support and expertise to our Production/QA pipeline. These services include build transfer/deployment automation, data archiving, test hardware inventory management, internal playtesting, and setting up an environment suitable for network testing.
  • Work closely with Sr. QA Manager to utilize QA resources for these services.
  • Continually improve our PD Ops services while introducing new services as needed.
  • Develop a long-term plan for the growth of the division.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, productive, and communicative working environment.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies for all services and suggest improvements through effective problem-solving.

 

The skills & experience we’re looking for:

  • At least 7 years of experience in the entertainment software industry, with 5 or more years of management experience.
  • Experience working with First-Party Submissions and/or Release Management.
  • Experience working on both development and publisher sides a plus.
  • Be able to interact with all corners of the organization, from management to entry-level testers.
  • Full recognition that the division being managed is a service provider to other areas of the organization. The ideal candidate should find satisfaction in helping others.
  • Experience with automated tools/software.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
  • Experience with setting up QA network environments a plus.
